The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Angola to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Júlio Maiato, today, 05.08.2023, encouraged the national MMA team that has just competed in the world championship of the modality in Abu Dhabi. Speaking at the moment of farewell to the national team, after participating in the “IMMAF World Youth Championship”, which took place from 2 to 5 August in this Arab country, the Angolan diplomat said that, despite the athletes not having won the gold medal, knew how to properly represent the country. He referred that the flag of Angola should always be present in international events for the good image of the sport and the Nation. In this year’s World Cup, Angola managed only one bronze medal won by the 13-year-old athlete, Stélvia Muhanha, in the Juvenil-C class. The fighters Hélio Caio, Daniela Mandanji and Renato Pireza had an excellent performance, which lasted 18 seconds, considered the fastest in the competition. Fighter Hélio Caio (bantamweight 61.2 KG), despite not having continued due to health problems, made two great performances (he won two fights) today in the group stage, with the organizers considering that “Angola has a star in its hands! “. Meanwhile, Ambassador Júlio Maiato showed total solidarity by going to the hospital where the Angolan fighter, also world champion in the youth category in Jiu-Jitsu, was being assisted. In this world championship, the Angolan MMA Federation took 11 athletes from the 15 members of the delegation headed by international master Jair Yoba to Abu Dhabi.
